RAB Updates-

 

Technical committee report back

TAP grant proposals have been drafted for work not yet done by the Navy:

(1) Parcel B final maganese site proposal- the Navy modified remedial plans. The technical committee met and reviewed proposal and decided it wants technical help to better understand proposal, with a better understanding will help in other parcels

(2) A second proposal for Explanation of Significant Differences (ESDs)

For year 2002, the RAB has $25,000 for technical assistance, which RAB members approve proposals

 

Opposition letter to Navy about proposal to move Parcel B shoreline cleanup plans

The Navy proposed change is without public comment, the Navy never informed public and Navy has provide no forum to comment.  The proposed decision could impact groundwater and SF Bay.

 

Parcel C- Drydock#4 (huge dry-dock used by Triple A and Astoria Metals)

Navy issued memo claiming emergency to fill 2 pipes (4ft. width x 100-ft. length) with cement.  The State does not want the pipes plugged with cement, rather the Navy should cleanup the area. CFC members should call Federal EPA- Rich Sanderean 744-2411 and let him know the EPA needs to regulate and stop the Navy action

ARC- will contact RAB members before the meeting provide updates

ARC will send out draft letter on shoreline for folks to sign and send out

CBE/Maurice- will bring overhead projector for presentation

CFC members call EPA Rich- 744 2411, tell him to stop the Navy‚s attempt to plug pipes

Redev. Agency issuing contract to help CAC develop Community Benefits package

This includes: Jobs, Housing, Arts, Transit

The RFQ will be issued on Nov. 5
