The Illinois Movable
Bridge is a project that the San Francisco Port Authority is fast tracking
without consulting the constituents who are directly and indirectly impacted by
this proposed bridge.
The constituents have gone
out of their way to contact the San Francisco Port Authority. The San Francisco
Port Authority have had some targeted meetings with the constituents but have
NOT revealed the details of the proposed Movable Bridge at Illinois Street and Islais Creek.
The constituents and other
Transportation and Environmental experts
SEE NO NEED for this
bridge at all.
This proposed bridge has the local community very distressed.
We have now to deal with more noise, pollution, other environmental hazards
just a few feet from where we work.
We are requesting the
Corps of Engineers, the Coast Guard, BCDC, etc to please review any plans and
put a stop to this bridge that has no place in our community. All this bridge
does is destroy our comunity which is close knit and has developed values over
decades.
The recent sewer pipe
collapse has destroyed the Muwekma Ohlone Sanctuary. This disaster revealed to
the community the ineptness of the
City and County of San Francisco, as well as the Port Authority. Several days after the disaster, no one
has taken full responsibility for all the adverse actions.
We call upon the Corps of
Engineers, the Coast Guard, the BCDC, the US Fish and Wildliife Service, and
all the related regulatory agencies to carefully examine any pressure put on
you to bring about the construction of this bridge that the community has stated
time and time again, that it does not want.
